Fashion in the 18th

Marie Antoinette, French Queen

So, in the 18th there were no famous designers like in the 19, 20 and 21th. Also, there was no difference between, «haute couture » and « ready-to-wear ». The clothes were « made-to-measure ».

The design of the pieces were based on paintings.

Paris influenced all Europe, and more precisely, the designer who were at court. There were magazines to follow the latest Paris style, like the « Cabinets des modes » or « La gazette du Bon Ton ». In these magazines, there were designers like Paul Iribe, Erté or George Barbier that influenced a lot fashion.
